Loch Leven Province

Scotland is divided up into areas and provinces. There are 13 areas and ours is Area 10 or Fife & Kinross Area. A list of the areas can be seen here on the RCCC website.

Loch Leven province is one of 4 provinces that make up the Fife & Kinross Area. The other provinces in Area 10 are Cupar and District, East of Fife and West of Fife.

Orwell Ladies take part in the following competitions run by Loch Leven Province.

Loch Leven Province Bonspiel

This is a 1 day bonspiel played in November over 3 sessions where each club enters 2 teams. Smaller clubs may be paired up. The top ladies club and the other 2 top clubs (ladies, gents or mixed) progress to the Area 10 Inter-Province Bonspiel the following season.

Wilson Trophy

The Wilson Trophy is a knockout competition with 3 rounds played in the evening in Kinross. Clubs enter 1 team. The winning team go on to represent Loch Leven Province at the National Province Championships the following season.

Festive Potty

This is a fun bonspiel held over 2 sessions on an evening between Christmas and New Year. Clubs enter 2 teams, although smaller clubs may be paired up. Orwell Ladies always pair up with Orwell Men for this competition. It is usually committee members that play, however anyone can take part. Festive gear is requested and the emphasis is on having fun rather than serious curling.

Blairhill Challenge

This is a 1 day bonspiel played over 3 sessions where each club enters 2 teams. Smaller clubs may be paired up. It is played in February over an afternoon and evening.

Interprovince Bonspiel

This is run by the Fife & Kinross Area and takes place at Dewars in Perth. The top ladies club and the other 2 top clubs (ladies, gents or mixed) from the Loch Leven Province Bonspiel qualify for this competition.
