On 24th March Orwell Ladies reached 40 years. This was celebrated by a fun bonspiel and lunch. It was great to have a couple of social members back on the ice for the occasion.

The social committee had planned a series of challenges that we had to complete that caused much laughter, especially delivering with a stick and playing in silence. The outfits for the skips were very flattering too. Have a look at the photos below. Some of the social members came and watched from the warmth of the bar and chose the winners for some spot prizes.

After the curling, 53 members moved to the Loch Leven Suite and were greeted by a glass of bubbly as we arrived. There was lots of memorabilia on show brought in by the inaugural members. Photos, prizes, badges and more were displayed for members of the club to see.

Angela had collected and scanned a series of photos into the computer and this was on display as a slideshow during the event. It caused much amusement as we looked at photos up to 40 years ago.

After lunch Jessie Lawrie, the clubs first president, and Sue Cameron, the current president, cut the cake and we all shared it with tea or coffee.

Caroline Liddle then provided the commentary to a fashion show presented by the original club members, showing off the various uniforms over the years. There were the club jumpers, the uniforms from the Europeans and the World Seniors, various tour kit and a fur hat modelled by Grace that was won as a prize.
